Report on the Event
Late Wednesday afternoon, 10th January 2018, 20 cars gathered under cloudy skies at the Feather’s Hotel Car Park for the first club run for 2018, where we travelled through the Adelaide Hills to Hahndorf. 4 other cars had driven directly to Hahndorf to meet us there. In all, some 45 people including guests attended the event.
The run took in some interesting roads that featured beautiful countryside as well as some lovely hills properties in urban parts of Stirling and Bridgewater and though the journey encountered home time local traffic, all was well with no one lost in the process; thanks to the skill of our tail end Charlie, our Honourable President. We arrived at Royal Copenhagen in Hahndorf about 6:15pm where we all found car parks at the rear of the Service Station adjoining the Royal Copenhagen, our destination for the evening. The night was almost balmy as we proceeded to our meal followed by glorious ice cream delights. It was a very relaxed evening with time for friends to catch up and chat to some newer members.
We offer a big thank you to Susan of Royal Copenhagen for keeping the shop open to accommodate us on Wednesday night. Your staff did a right “royal” job in meeting to our needs efficiently with smiles all round, well done to them all.
We must thank Kevin Bew, Principal of Paradise Motors, for lending us the white RF, as our NC decided to play up at 3:00pm that afternoon. It was quite panic stations at home as Dennis started to get the Triumph TR2 ready, when I phoned Kevin Bew at Paradise Motors who very kindly loaned us the RF. I must say, that as a passenger, I really enjoyed the utterly relaxed drive and think that it could be time for us to trade up to this thoroughly modern classic sports car. If you have not tried the new MX-5 RF, do yourself a favour and seek a test drive, you could just be captivated, be warned.
